IMB Center held a Seminar in Atyrau on the possibilities of localization of goods at the large projects Tengiz, Kashagan and Karashaganak
On December 12, 2024, the Seminar on the possibilities of localization of oil and gas machine building products under Commodity Group B (linepipes and piping products, pumps and seals, HVAC and process filters) on major projects Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak was held in Atyrau. The event was held with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and with the organizational support of Petrocouncil, as well as with the participation of major oil and gas Operators – Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO), Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) and North Caspian Operating Company N.V (NCOC).
The official part of the Seminar was opened by Kudaibergen Arymbek, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, during which he noted the work carried out jointly with major oil and gas Operators on a regular basis to increase the in-country value and support local manufacturers in the procurement of goods, works and services used for subsoil use.
Within the framework of the Seminar, Dastan Abishev, General Director of IMB Center welcomed the participants with welcoming speech and spoke in detail about the activities and results of Center, including the analysis conducted by Center under Commodity group B.
Moreover, Samat Sarsengaliyev Deputy General Director of IMB Center, presented an approach to working with domestic manufacturers in terms of developing an individual Capacity Development Plan (CDP), during which approaches to the development of CDP and generalized technical requirements set by large Operators were demonstrated.
During the event, Yerlan Mukay, Deputy Managing Director of NCOC spoke about the activities of NCOC carried out in the field of increasing local content and the North Caspian project Operator’s joint work with IMB Center.
“Kazakhstani content is a strategic issue for the country, and we are supporting this important area. This year alone TCO has signed more than 20 contracts with Kazakhstani companies. We will continue our close collaboration with the Ministry of Energy on in-country value development program” – noted Stephen Conner, TCO General Manager Operations.
During the seminar, Arman Amanzhol, Local Content Development Manager of KPO explained in detail the mechanisms for supporting local suppliers, KPO requirements for suppliers, and updated information on KPO needs for the next three years for Commodity Group B.
Technical Manager of IMB Center, Ibrahim Amankulov spoke in detail about the approach of IMB Center's work in terms of attracting investments, focused on the localization of production in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and technology transfer.
During the Seminar, for a total amount of about 17 million US dollars 10 contracts for the purchase of materials for maintenance, repair and operation between major oil and gas Operators and Kazakhstani suppliers were also signed.
Within the framework of the Seminar, the exhibition was organized where several Kazakhstani enterprises demonstrated their goods under Commodity Group B.
In the afternoon, during the Special Session, Experts Adilzhan Nurtazayev, Nurken Kurmanbayev and Azamat Boguspayev made presentations on the main technical requirements for Commodity group B. IMB Center experts spoke in detail about all the requirements for linepipes and piping products, pumps and seals, HVAC and process filters, and the main types of equipment were demonstrated separately. During the discussions, answers to the questions raised by the participants in the event were provided.
Summing up the Seminar, IMB Center confirmed its readiness to continue cooperation with domestic manufacturers of oil and gas equipment, assisting them in establishing long-term cooperation with major oil and gas Operators.
IMB Center Seminar gathered about 151 representatives of domestic oil and gas machine building enterprises, of which about 58 companies of domestic manufacturers participated.
