The IMB Center held a Forum on the development of Oil and Gas Machinery
On July 10, 2024, the annual IMB Center Forum dedicated to the development of oil and gas machinery in the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in the city of Atyrau. The event was supported by the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, LLP "PSA," as well as major oil and gas operators "Tengizchevroil," the North Caspian Project Operator NCOC, and "Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V."
In the official part of the forum, welcome speeches were delivered by the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Zhamauov, Deputy Akim of the Atyrau Region Marat Murziev, and representatives of national companies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the forum, reports on the activities of the Tengiz, Karachaganak, and Kashagan field operators were presented. Presentations were made by the General Director of "Tengizchevroil" Kevin Lyon, the General Director of "Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V." Marco Marsili, the Managing Director of NCOC Giancarlo Ruiu, as well as domestic manufacturers of oil and gas equipment.
The General Director of IMB Center Aset Magauov, in his speech at the Forum, emphasized the importance of developing local content in the machinery sector and discussed the work done to analyze the needs of the Operators and further plans to involve Kazakhstan manufacturers in major oil and gas projects.
As part of the work on localizing the production of goods, the three Operators organized an exhibition in the format of "Open Days." The purpose of this exhibition was to provide domestic manufacturers with the opportunity to visibly demonstrate samples of equipment and materials purchased at the largest fields. At the exhibition, representatives of TCO, NCOC, and KPO held a number of meetings with Kazakhstan enterprises. During the meetings, technical specifications of goods, tender procedures, support mechanisms for local suppliers, and new initiatives aimed at increasing local content in oil and gas projects were discussed.
Representatives of major foreign original equipment manufacturers who localized their production in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of IMB Center also participated in the Forum. This area is one of the key activities of the IMB Center, namely facilitating the creation of joint ventures as a bridge between the three major Operators, original equipment manufacturers, and potential investors.
The event gathered about 300 representatives of both foreign and domestic oil and gas machinery enterprises, interested government bodies, industry associations, and development institutions.
IMB Center continues to deepen interaction with domestic manufacturers of oil and gas equipment, striving to create new opportunities for their cooperation with the Operators. The Forum also aims to inform the general public about the results of IMB Center’s activities and the prospects for the development of localization and the creation of in-country value in the oil and gas sector.
