On July 3, 2026, Shanghai hosted the 16th China Sourcing Summit on Petroleum & Chemical Equipment (CSSOPE 2026). As part of the summit, the China–Kazakhstan Oil & Gas Procurement, Localization & Technology Partnership Session was held to promote cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in procurement, production localization, industrial cooperation, and technology partnerships within the oil and gas sector. The Kazakh delegation, comprising representatives of government agencies, national companies, industry associations, and the business community, presented Kazakhstan’s investment potential, promising industrial projects, and opportunities for production localization.

As part of the forum’s business program, members of the Kazakh delegation, including representatives of IMBC, visited several leading Chinese industrial enterprises specializing in the manufacturing of equipment, components, and technological solutions for the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. These companies supply products to some of the world's largest energy projects. During the visits, the delegation gained first-hand insight into advanced production facilities, automation systems, quality control technologies, engineering capabilities, and the export potential of the enterprises.

During the session, as well as in a series of B2B and B2G meetings, IMBC held negotiations with leading Chinese manufacturers, technology companies, EPC contractors, and investors. The discussions focused on Kazakhstan’s investment and industrial potential, localization of manufacturing in Kazakhstan, establishment of joint ventures, technology transfer, and the development of the petrochemical industry. The strong interest demonstrated by Chinese partners reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s growing role as a regional industrial hub and an attractive destination for high-tech projects and foreign investment.

At the conclusion of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IMBC, the China Chamber of Commerce for Petroleum Industry (CCCPI), and TOPCO.
