Oil and Gas Machinery Forum and Operators’ Open Doors Day in Uralsk
On 16 October 2026, the traditional Oil and Gas Machinery Forum and Operators’ Open Doors Day was held in Uralsk. The event was organized by IMBC, jointly with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Kuryltai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, PSA, KazMunayGas, as well as major oil and gas and petrochemical operators, including TCO, NCOC, KPO, KMG PetroChem, and Silleno.
The 2026 Forum holds particular significance as it coincides with the 5th anniversary of IMBC. In a relatively short period, IMBC has established a sustainable platform for cooperation between Operators, state authorities, and local manufacturers. The Center has made a significant contribution to the development of oil and gas machinery manufacturing and to expanding the participation of Kazakhstani enterprises in the supply chains of some of the world’s largest and most unique projects.

The Forum’s significance and scale are reflected in the steady annual growth in the number of participants. This year, the event brought together more than 800 participants, doubling the number recorded at the Forum last year. Attendees included representatives of state authorities, oil and gas and petrochemical project operators, local and foreign manufacturers, industry associations, and the wider business community.

The plenary session was opened by Serik Kozhanyiazov, Member of the Kuryltai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who delivered a welcoming address from Aibek Dadebay, Chairman of the Kuryltai of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by Nurdilda Oraz, Head of the Office of the Akim of West Kazakhstan Oblast, and Yerlan Akbarov, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Forum also featured speeches by Shafkat Kudabayev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas; William Lacobie, General Director of TCO; Marco Marsili, General Director of KPO; Zhandos Orazaliyev, Deputy Managing Director of NCOC and Diaz Diyanov, Chairman of the Management Board of KMG PetroChem.
Following his remarks, Zhandos Orazaliyev, Deputy Managing Director of NCOC, presented Dastan Abishev, General Director of IMBC, with a letter of appreciation on behalf of NCOC, congratulating the IMBC team on its achievements.

Dastan Abishev, General Director of IMBC, presented IMBC’s activities and key achievements over the five years since its establishment, highlighting its contribution to the development of local manufacturing of oil and gas goods and equipment. He also emphasized the need to further expand the participation of Kazakhstani manufacturers in the supply chains of major oil and gas and petrochemical projects.

Dastan Abishev noted: “The development of oil and gas machine-building means creating a sustainable manufacturing ecosystem in which local enterprises can respond to the actual demand of major Operators, implement international standards, adopt new technologies, and consistently strengthen their production capabilities. IMBC’s mission is to ensure effective interaction between Operators’ demand and Kazakhstan’s manufacturing capabilities, creating the conditions for the long-term development of the local industry and unlocking the export potential of Kazakhstani manufacturers.”
The plenary session was moderated by Zhandos Demesinovich Nurmaganbetov, General Director of the KAZENERGY Association, who guided the discussions throughout the session.
The value of contracts signed between Operators and local enterprises at the Forum has continued to grow year-on-year. This trend was reflected in the contract-signing ceremony involving KazMunayGas, Operators, and local companies, with agreements worth approximately USD 700 million, representing an increase of USD 240 million compared to the Forum in the previous year. These new agreements create additional opportunities to expand supplies of Kazakhstani-made products and further develop domestic manufacturing capabilities.

The Operators’ Open Doors Day was another key component of the programme, aimed at establishing direct engagement between Operators and local manufacturers. The event brought together more than 100 technical specialists from the Operators, providing a platform for direct dialogue and closer cooperation.
As part of the official award ceremony recognizing contributions to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas industry, Yerlan Akbarov, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented Dastan Abishev, General Director of IMBC, with the Ministry of Energy’s “Distinguished Service in the Oil and Gas Industry” badge.

In addition, Vice Minister Yerlan Akbarov presented Certificates of Honour from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Operator representatives in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of the oil and gas industry and their high level of professionalism.

Furthermore, IMBC General Director Dastan Abishev presented letters of appreciation to local enterprises in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas machinery manufacturing industry, their consistent efforts to implement international standards and advanced technological solutions, their successful localization of production, and their contribution to strengthening the country’s industrial potential.

IMBC, together with the Ministry of Energy and the Operators, will continue its efforts to establish a sustainable framework for cooperation between Operators, state authorities, and local manufacturers. These efforts are aimed at advancing oil and gas machinery manufacturing, increasing in country value, and strengthening Kazakhstan’s industrial and export potential.
