Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and major oil and gas operators aimed at developing domestic value, contracts have been signed with Kazakhstani companies.

On May 15, 2024, a meeting was held in Astana to discuss strengthening partnership ties and developing domestic value. The meeting was attended by deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, major oil and gas operators, the International Center for Development of Oil and Gas Machine Building (IMB Center), and domestic suppliers of oil and gas goods and services.

One of the important initiatives of this event was the signing of contracts between major oil and gas operators Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO), North Caspian Operating Company N.V. (NCOC), and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) with local manufacturers and service companies, as well as with international original equipment manufacturers that have localized their production in the territory of Kazakhstan.

With the assistance of IMB Center, contracts were concluded with leading companies such as John Crane Kazakhstan LLP (mechanical seals and spare parts), WIKA LLP (pressure gauges), Honeywell Kazakhstan LLP (control systems), AsiaFilter LLP (process filters), Centech LLP (cable trays and fastenings), AtyrauNefteMash LLP (sulfur melting tanks), PKF Continent Co LTD (fiber optic cable), Borkit Safety LLP (personal gas detector), Global Chemicals Resources LLP (chemicals supply), and other partners.

As part of increasing domestic value, IMB Center continues to work on developing opportunities for Kazakhstani manufacturers by analyzing over 150 domestic plants and developing 11 capacity development plans for local manufacturers. The capacity development plan consists of specific practical recommendations successful implementation of which will enable enterprises to produce goods that meet international standards and the requirements of oil and gas operators.

Upon completion of the plan, IMB Center recommends the manufacturer to oil and gas operators as a potential supplier, significantly increasing its chances not only of concluding contracts with the aforementioned oil and gas operators but also of exporting their products.

In total, 21 contracts were signed at the event for the total value of $240 million USD, indicating the significance of this event for the development of the domestic oil and gas sector.
